What major historical events do you remember?

I was born in 1960. Remembering when President Kennedy was assassinated I was only almost 4. I’m not certain, don’t think I saw the actual assassination but I saw it on repeat. Yet the shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald was live on the black and white television in the living room. My mother never watched tv during the day but she was glued to it for days after the assassination.

The assassination of both President Kennedy and his killer days later both happened weeks before my 4th birthday. What parts were replays and what was real time i don’t know and I will never really know if real or replay because at age 3 I don’t trust my memories.

My mother had sent brother, sister and me outside when it was permissible to allow (under the age of 7 kids) unsupervised outside to play. Can also remember using homemade flags to imitate what was shown on the television on the day of the funeral. The little John-John salute with a replay or realtime idk. Pretty certain it was as it occurred.

It will always be an ingrained memory because of how seriously mother was. She took over the tv when she normally left it off during week days.
